At first he did not know, where to look for the hammer, but soon he remembered, as a certain giant boasted, that he found a way, by Asowie, whenever he wants, they gave him everything, what he demands. He immediately headed for Jotunheim. Having arrived there, he put away his wonderful robe and went straight to Thrym's house. He found the host, sitting on the saddle and putting on gold collars to his hunting dogs. He greeted Thrym with a polite word, and this one received him, like the expected guest. The conversation did not last long, when the giant confessed, that he was the one who stole Thor's hammer and hid it so carefully, that no one will find him. The aces of the hammer will not recover, if they do not agree to the terms, what Thrym would put up.
Loki changed back into the feather robe and made his way to Asgard. Arriving at the scene, he locked himself in the chamber with Thor and told him in secret, what he found out in Jotunheim. Thor became intrigued, when he heard, that Mjollnir is in Thrym's hands. He knew, it would be hard to get him out of there. But Loki was hopeful. For Thrym did not ask, according to him, too exorbitant price. He only asked for Freya's hand, and he had promised to give her the hammer as a wedding gift. Loki thought, that a rich and good-looking giant will not seem too obnoxious to you. After all, she liked fleeting love affairs, and for the imminent dissolution of this relationship, Thor, with a hammer in hand, will figure out a way.
They rushed to Freya immediately, without asking for permission, they told her to put on her wedding gown and go to Thrym's headquarters for the engagement. But a goddess, unexpectedly for both of them she became furious and ordered to go away with such ideas. She was screaming so terribly at the same time, that all Asgard was shaking in its foundations. Frightened and distressed, they fled as quickly as possible, without knowing, what to do next.
