Having completed the bedding, Hermod returned to Asgard and gave Odin a Draupnir ring as a gift from Baldr. Frigg has turned to every animal now, plants, rocks and mountains, that they would pay a tribute of tears for Baldr. A great sob rang out over the world. Everything that is alive and that is dead cried. For great was love and affection, which Baldr enjoyed.
Hope entered the hearts of the gods. Everyone seemed to be, that the sentence of fate has been reversed. So the envoys from Asgard left, to bring Baldr back into the world of the living. On the way, however, they came across the giantess Thok. She was sitting in the cave, laughing and mocking the tears shed for Baldr. The messengers asked her, that she would feel sorry for the fate of the radiant god and fulfill the condition of Hel. Thok refused, however. She stated this, that she does not care, would Baldr remain in the land of death, and that he doesn't care about it, that the world will lose joy and happiness forever.
The messengers then had to come back with nothing, and for the Aesir the days of wedding are over.
The shadow of the Ragnarok obscured the sun shining over Asgard.
